I have been printing and coil binding items like this for some time (EMP proof) and frankly, paper is easier to use especially for pan and scan and allows usable notes. What is usually missing is a proper index. Thanks for the link.

I have noticed it too. The most important manuals should be printed, bound and waterproofed. Once you get a couple thousand this can get kind of expensive. Paper is easier to use especially if you have to move it around to work from it.

Coil binding does make storage to find a lot harder, but they are so easy to use it almost fully compensates. When I closed most of my business operations my wife told me there was two things I couldn't get rid of: my super heavy duty electric paper shear (she frequently cuts the binding off paper back books) and my heavy duty electric coil hole puncher (she then coil binds the former paper backs for easy access). The coils just spin right in, then cinch the ends to prevent unwinding and away you go. I do laminate the covers, but the result is almost indestructible with pages very hard to rip out of the multi-holed coiled binding even when you want to.

I wanted a copy of NUCLEAR WAR SURVIVAL like this in laminated acid free paper coil bound with waterproofed covers. It gets expensive, I think it is worth buying equipment like you have - eventually saves the money of paying somebody to do it for you with hundreds of manuals.

Truly excellent work that has been going on for about 20 years now (early posts were made on the Aussurvivalist Forum of yore).
