One book I just read that was quite thought provoking. Beyond Collapse by Miller. It’s about restarting civilization. From what I have read there is a free pdf of it put out with the blessing of the author
No download? It gets problematic reviews on Amazon with one suggesting "This book was really not what I expected. If you are looking for reference material on preparedness in the event of a nuclear attack of any kind, don't spend the money on this book. Instead, buy the book Nuclear Survival Skills by Kearny. This might make a decent backup to that book, but only to reassure you of what you have already read from Nuclear Survival Skills."
Amazon wants $21 for Fighting Chance and $9.89 for Kearny's. I don't disagree, since I haven't read either. Kearny's book, which was initially published in 1979, was updated by Kearny himself in 1987 and again in 2001. You may find it. Just a suggestion. God bless.
Kearny's book was released public domain by Cresson Kearny. I can't stand people who steal the IP of dead men and then try to resell their work when they explicitly declared it in the public domain. Sure, you can sell it if you want but don't claim your version is copyrighted.
Don't know how Amazon justifies the price (with "Fighting Chance") on what is widely seen now as public domain, with no effort by the surviving author to limit distribution or establish copyright. You can get the book on EBay for $5 - that's how I got my hard copy.
It is seen as a political polemic, much of it, with a desire to see it distributed as widely as possible.
There is an even newer version of nuclear war survival skills. Kearney with notes by Steve Harris. It’s more expensive than the 2001 and earlier editions. The Harris notes are worth the higher cost.

Like most people already owning a generator with some fuel supply. Vehicles with the fuel in their tanks. I think the Harris edition was 2020 or 2021.
